HC Deb 29 November 1977 vol 940 cc124-5W
Mrs. Wise

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish in the Official Report a complete list of the legislation under which firemen carry out fire prevention and precautions duties.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The Fire Services Act 1947 and the Fire Precautions Act 1971 impose specific responsibilities on fire authorities which are undertaken by members of fire brigades. In addition the following public statutes impose requirements in respect of which members of fire brigades may be called upon to give advice relating to fire prevention and precautions. The list excludes legislation applying only to Scotland.
