§ Miss Margaret JacksonFigures are not available for colleges of education separately. The estimated number successfully completing all types of initial teacher training courses in England and Wales in the summer of 1977 was 36,500. Of these, 15,156 had taken up full-time employment as teachers in maintained nursery, primary and secondary schools in England and Wales by 30th September 1977, the latest date for which figures are available. Total figures of those who have obtained employment of any kind within the teaching profession after successfully completing a training course in the summer of 1977 are not yet available.
