HC Deb 24 November 1977 vol 939 cc815-6W
Mr. Norman Lamont

asked the Lord President of the Council whether, pursuant to his previous reply to the hon. Member for Kingston upon Thames, he will specify which groups whose pay is reviewed by the Top Salaries Review Board will, under the 12-month rule, receive pay increases before and which after Members of Parliament.

Mr. Foot

I regret that I cannot anticipate decisions about future pay in creases. I can only say that the present settlement dates of those groups whose pay is reviewed by the Review Board on Top Salaries, for the purpose of the 12-month rule, are:

  • Armed Forces(senior members): 1st January
  • Higher Civil Service: 1st January
  • Judiciary—Higher: 26th July
  • Lower: 1st January
  • Nationalised industry board members: 1st January
  • Members of Parliament: 13th June.
