HC Deb 24 November 1977 vol 939 cc890-1W
Mr. Norman Lamont

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, in placing contracts with suppliers, his Department has been requiring evidence of observance of the Government's pay policy; and what form that evidence has taken.

Mr. Deakins

Yes. Tenderers are required to submit with their tenders a declaration that they have not paid to their employees any increase in remuneration in excess of the limits mentioned in Section 1 of the Remuneration Charges and Grants Act 1975. The Government's policy is not to reward with contracts firms which breach their pay guidelines.
