HC Deb 23 November 1977 vol 939 cc745-6W
Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many applications he has received regarding refunds on television licences.

Mr. John

I regret that this information is not available.

Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he intends to introduce legislation to seek to refund part-television licence fees to next of kin of deceased holders; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Bowden

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will review the regulations which permit the Post Office to issue refunds for television licences to include the unexpired portion of a deceased licence holder.

Mr. John

The policy on television licence refunds is currently under review in the light of the recommendation of the Annan Committee on the Future of Broadcasting that no changes should be made in the present arrangements.
