§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Lord President of the Council in view of the fact that, since March 1975, £541,540 has been paid to political parties in the House and since the declared policies of each of these parties is for the need for cuts in Government expenditure, if any of these political parties have requested cuts in their payments; and by what amounts.
§ Mr. FootNone of the parties in receipt of financial aid under the terms of the resolution of the House of 20th March 1975 has sought a reduction in the amount payable. Despite rising administrative costs, however, the amounts payable have remained unchanged since the scheme was introduced.
§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Lord President of the Council whether, as each of the political parties in the House supports the Government's cuts in expenditure, he will call the leaders of these parties together to discuss with them means of cutting the £541,540.70 of taxpayers' money paid to them.
734Wof the Council of Tribunals:
§ Mr. FootI have no plans to do so, especially since the level of the amounts payable has remained unchanged since 1975.
