HC Deb 23 November 1977 vol 939 c773W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he is satisfied that the system of medical certificates for drivers over 65 years of age to obtain driving licences is working satisfactorily; if sufficient information is obtained; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Horam

Age-related medical certificates are required only in connection with the vocational licensing schemes for drivers of heavy goods vehicles and public service vehicles. The requirement is one of the matters which is being considered by a departmental working party which is currently reviewing the arrangements for the medical assessment of these drivers.
