§ Mr. MacGregorasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what he estimates would be the current costs in a full year to local authority social service departments and the Probation and After-Care Service of implementing Part II of the Children Act 1975.
§ Mr. JohnIt is not possible to quantify these costs precisely, but implementation of Part II would place additional tasks on local authority social services departments and the Probation and After-Care 745W Service which are already heavily burdened. We are in touch with the representative bodies concerned about the demands on resources which implementation would involve, with a view to deciding when it may be possible to bring Part II into operation.
