§ 61. Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if there has been a reduction in the number of home visits paid by his Department's supplementary benefit inspectors; and if this has been as a result of expenditure cuts.
§ Mr. DeakinsRevised procedures are being introduced for supplementary benefit home visiting to achieve savings in administrative costs. These changes will involve discontinuing visits in certain circumstances, generally where information can be obtained effectively without visits, but increasing the frequency of visits to pensioners and other long-term beneficiaries.
