However, as at autumn 1977, approximately 16 per cent. of registered unemployed persons claiming unemployment benefit and/or supplementary benefit were either claiming by post or attending fortnightly at an unemployment benefit office; and a further 5 per cent. claiming supplementary benefit only, were attending quarterly.
