Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of of State for Trade (1) if he will list in theOfficial Report the grades and tonnages and price per tonne of the 111,271 tonnes of scrap iron and steel exported from the United Kingdom in July 1977 at an average price per tonne;

(2) if he will list in theOfficial Report the grades, tonnages and price per tonne of the 4,436 tonnes of scrap iron and steel imported into the United Kingdom in July 1977 at an average price £104.2 per tonne;

(3) if he will list in theOfficial Report the tonnage of iron and steel scrap imported into the United Kingdom and the value of such imports in 1977 and the exports of iron and steel scrap for 1977 and the value of such exports;

(4) if he will state the grades and tonnages of iron and steel scrap exported from the United Kingdom in 1977 and the grades and tonnages imported in 1977.

In January to October 1977 exports of waste and scrap metal of iron or steel were 793,180 tonnes, valued at £32.014 million fob and imports were 90,044 tonnes valued at £8.612 million cif. Information by grade of scrap iron and steel is not collected in the overseas trade statistics.
