HC Deb 16 November 1977 vol 939 c251W
49. Mr. Jessel

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he now expects work to commence on the construction of the sections of the M25 motorway from Reigate Hill to the M4, Heathrow Airport; and when he expects completion and opening.

Mr. Horam

The time bands within which, subject to the satisfactory completion of the statutory procedures and the availability of funds, construction of the sections of the M25 between Reigate and the M4 is expected to start are as follows:

Reigate to Wisley 1979–1980
Wisley to Chertsey 1979–1980
Chertsey to Thorpe 1978–1979
Egham to Yeoveney. 1978–1979
Yeoveney to Heathrow Airport Spur 1979–1980
Heathrow Airport Spur to M4 1981–1982

I would expect the contract periods to be from two to three years. The section between Thorpe and Egham was opened to traffic in 1976.
