§ Mr. Stephen Rossasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many local authorities in existence immediately prior to reorganisation did not operate a pension scheme for their employees; and how many do not do so at present.
§ Mr. Guy BarnettApart from parish councils, which do not normally provide pensions for their staffs, all local authorities in existence immediately before reorganisation operated pension arrangements for their permanent whole-time employees and all now in existence do so. Regulations are to be made enabling part-time employees working 21 hours or more a week to opt for super-annuability if they desire it.
