asked the Secretary of State for Transport if in view of the increasing use by large vehicles from the Continent of the loads of Kent, he will make representations to the EEC that they should contribute to the cost of the upkeep and improvement of these roads.

In view of the two-way traffic across the Channel, I do not think that the course suggested by the hon. Gentleman would be a rewarding one to follow.
