HC Deb 15 November 1977 vol 939 c118W
Mr. Watkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if he will institute an inquiry into petrol prices, with particular reference to the difference in levels between town and country.

Mr. Maclennan

My right hon. Friend does not consider that a further inquiry would be justified at this stage. A report published by the Price Commission in 1975—Motor Fuel Retailers' Margins Final Report—set out reasons for variations in petrol prices and further information was provided in 1976 by an interdepartmental inquiry.
