§ Mr. Brocklebank-Fowlerasked the Minister for the Civil Service what steps he proposes to make good the pay and pensions deficiencies suffered by seven Ministry of Defence senior police officers in relation to their junior colleagues arising out of the Government's rejection of the chief officers' claim in June 1975.
§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisI would refer the hon. Member to the replies to his Questions on 26th October—[Vol. 936 c.685 and 697]—which explained the Government's plans for the correction of the pay anomaly affecting Ministry of Defence chief police officers, and how their pensions are calculated. Backdating new settlements or reopening phase 1 and 2 settlements would be incompatible with the Government's pay policy, so there can be no general adjustment of pensionable pay for these officers for the period l st September 1975 to 31st August 1977.
