asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the total cost to public funds to date of compensation paid out as a result of damage from terrorism in Northern Ireland.

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he is satisfied with the provision of the meals on wheels service in Northern Ireland.

If the hon. Member has in mind the quality of provision, the answer is "Yes." I will not be happy with the level of provision until it is possible to meet the full demand for this service. Even allowing for the strict qualifying criteria demand inevitably outstrips supply. Given some of the practical constraints, including distance, distribution points and availability of volunteers, I am satisfied that every effort continues to be made to reach those most in need, and to further expand the service whenever possible.

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) how many main meals were provided directly in the homes of elderly handicapped persons in each area health board in the year ended 31st March 1977;

(2) how many main meals were provided directly in the homes of elderly handicapped persons in Northern Ireland in the year ended 31st March 1977.

I regret that the information is not available in the form requested. A census of meals served in recipients' homes is taken annually, normally in respect of the last week of November. The figures for the week ended 30th November 1976 are as follows:
