§ Mr. Robert Sheldon:The market value of portfolio investments overseas owned by the United Kingdom private sector for the end of each year 1966 to 1976 is published in Table 11.1 of "United Kingdom Balance of Payments 1966–76" (The Pink Book) a copy of which is in the Library. The corresponding figures for fixed investment are not available, but estimates of the book value of stocks of direct —and oil companies' —investments overseas are given in the same table.
