§ Mr. Orme:The information given in the comparative Social Security Tables for member States of the European Communities, published by my Department, is provided by the social security authorities in each State. The information provided early this year by Germany was that in certain circumstances family allowances there may be taxed; Italy and Luxembourg also informed us that their family allowances were taxable. Confirmation of the position could be obtained only by further inquiry of the tax authorities in those countries.
