HC Deb 11 November 1977 vol 938 c259W
Mr. Shersby

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many senior RAF officers have refused to accept station commands during the past year due to their inability to meet the personal financial burden implicit in appointments that involve entertaining; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wellbeloved:

My inquiries will take a little time, and I will write to the hon. Member.

Mr. Shersby

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will authorise an early and substantial increase in the scale of RAF station commanders' entertainment allowances, to enable them to discharge their duty to the Service and the Community in a manner commensurate with the dignity of the Royal Air Force.

Mr. Wellbeloved:

An increase has just been authorised and will be promulgated shortly.
