HC Deb 11 November 1977 vol 938 c256W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will make a statement on the conditions and pay of Her Majesty's Forces in Belize.

Dr. Gilbert:

The British forces in Belize are engaged in active operations, and some of the conditions under which they are serving are inseparable from such operations. Arrangements have been under way for some time, and will continue, to improve both supplies and facilities, particularly in the south of Belize. The level of pay and local overseas allowances taken together, and expressed in terms of the value of the Belize currency, has not been affected by the recent adjustment in the exchange rate.
