HC Deb 10 November 1977 vol 938 cc225-6W
Mr. Kenneth Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what will be the estimated cost to public funds of his Department's Invest in Britain Bureau.

Mr. Cryer:

The estimated cost to public funds of the Invest in Britain Bureau is about £350,000 in 1977–78. This figure includes staff costs (including an assessed figure for superannuation, accommodation and common services) as well as expenditure on promotional activities and on publicity material.

The figure of £350,000 does not represent extra costs. The work of the Invest in Britain Bureau was carried out, up to 15th September 1977, within a branch of the regional industrial finance division of my Department.
