HL Deb 09 November 1977 vol 387 c266WA
Lord INGLEWOOD

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was their estimate of the number of Special Constables over the recommended age and hence due for retirement at the time of the publication of the report of the Home Office Working Party dated November 1976, and how many have since resigned voluntarily or been retired.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

It is estimated that the number of Special Constables over the recommended retiring age at the time of publication of the report was about 4,000. The other information is not held centrally and could not be obtained without disproportionate cost.
