§ Mr. Ridleyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will list the successive forecasts he has made of the public sector borrowing requirement in 1978–79, specifying the date, anticipated size of the public sector borrowing requirement on each occasion and the causes of any revisions.
Mr. Joel Barnett,pursuant to his reply[Official Report, 7th November 1977 ; Vol. 938, c. 39],gave the following answer :
The only forecast for 1978–79 I have given to the House was the one included in my statement on 26th October. There was a figure of £8.6 billion in the 15th December 1976 letter of intent to the IMF, but this was conditional on a certain development of GDP.
