134WBefore his appointment as Resident Commissioner (designate) Lord Carver received the retired pay of a field marshal. The rate for this was £11,604 a year. Since his appointment, his total emoluments from public funds have been equivalent to full field marshal's pay, and amount to £19,882 a year including the 1977 pay supplement.
