HC Deb 09 November 1977 vol 938 cc151-2W
Mr. Fitt

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he is satisfied with the education of handicapped children in Northern Ireland ; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Carter:

The education of handicapped children in Northern Ireland is the responsibility of the area education and library boards and, in respect of those determined as in need of special care, of the health and social services boards. The adequacy of existing facilities is under constant review by these boards, and where improvements are needed they are introduced as resources permit. If the hon. Member is aware of any particular problems I would be grateful if he would draw them to my attention.
