asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many staff are engaged working with the 128K ICL 1902 computer for the Inland Revenue.

Mr. Robert Sheldon,pursuant to his reply[Official Report, 8th November 1977 ; Vol. 938, cc. 79-80],circulated the following answer:

The table below shows the various combinations of taxes as a proportion of gross domestic product. The estimates for 1977–78 are consistent with those in the published forecast "Economic Prospects to End 1978 ".

The Inland Revenue has no ICL 1902 computers, but its ICL 1904A at Victoria House, Liverpool, has 128K words of internal store. The number of staff working with this machine is 190.
