Sir Bernard Braineasked the Secretary of State for Trade when the last survey of the munition ship "Richard Montgomery" took place ; whether this included underwater examination and an assessment of the state of the cargo ; and what arrangements exist to keep the safety situation under review.
§ Mr. Clinton Davis :Hydrographic surveys of the wreck and the sea bed around it are carried out at approximately three-monthly intervals. An underwater survey was carried out in July 1972. I am very conscious of the need to keep the condition of this wreck under review and am considering a fresh underwater survey for 1978.
