§ Mrs. Haymanasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he is taking in connection with the safety of British travellers regarding fire precautions in foreign hotels.
§ Mr. LuardFire precautions in hotels abroad are the responsibility of the authorities of the countries concerned.
Nevertheless, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is co-operating with other Government Departments to promote the international application of acceptable standards, and is meanwhile encouraging travel organisers to exercise selectivity in their patronage of hotels.
