§ Mr. HoramAs an integral part of the Department of Transport, the road construction units have no separate terms of reference. The road construction units are carrying out difficult jobs most efficiently and my right hon. Friend is satisfied with their performance.

§ Mr. HoramThe total number of permanent staff employed by road construction units at 1st April 1977 was 2,765. Comparable figures for previous years: 2,947 in 1974, 2,711 in 1975 and 2,904 in 1976.
