§ Mr. Hicksasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is satisfied with the progress made in implementing the findings and recommendations of the case involving the Caradon District Council and Norman Pearn Ltd., of Looe; and if he will establish a departmental inquiry to investigate the reasons for the delay.
§ Mr. Guy BarnettI understand that the lease of land is the subject of continuing negotiations between the district council and the firm in which both sides are legally represented. If terms are agreed the council expects to have to make an order for the diversion of a public right of way and if opposed the order would come to the Secretary of State for decision. In these circumstances it would be inappropriate for me to comment further but if the hon. Member were to approach the council's chief executive he576W would be glad to explain the situation in detail.
