Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many grants for project aid to voluntary bodies in Scotland, England and Wales, respectively, in 1976–77 have been made by the Voluntary Services Unit; and what was the expenditure in each case;

(2) what grants have been made by the Voluntary Services Unit in 1976–77 in Scotland, England and Wales; and if he will express these figures in percentage terms.

At least 16 of these grants were to organisations whose work extends to Scotland, but only the last two listed—3 per cent.—were made for specifically Scottish or Welsh projects. This is because grants to voluntary bodies in Scotland and Wales are normally the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Wales respectively.
