HL Deb 25 May 1977 vol 383 c1414WA
Viscount INGLEBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the present age of consent—

  1. (a) for homosexual
  2. (b) for heterosexual
offences in England and Wales, in other member countries of the E.E.C., and in the United States of America.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

The minimum age for homosexual relations in England and Wales is 21 years and the age of consent in relation to heterosexual offences is 16 years. I am writing to the noble Viscount about the second part of his Question.
