§ Mr. Tierneyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has yet issued guidance to health authorities on precautions to be taken to protect the health and safety of hospital staff working in operating theatres.
§ Mr. MoyleMy Department gave general guidance on the implications of the Health and Safety at work etc. Act 1974 for health authorities at the time when the Act first came into force in April 1975. Specific guidance on how to reduce the pollution of operating departments and certain other areas by waste anaesthetic gases was given in a circular issued in July 1976, which advised authorities 471W that any necessary capital works required under this circular should be put in hand during the 1976–77 financial year.
