§ Mr. Dunn38 official cars are attached to Northern Ireland Government Departments. 16 of them were bought for £36,690, and running costs amounted to £11,738 for 1976–77. Information on the costs of purchase and running of the remaining 22 DOE (NI) cars is not readily available and could not be obtained without disproportionate use of resources. Nine cars, including the Central Pool which services all Departments, are generally available for official duties, while the remaining 29 are earmarked primarily for special departmental duties, largely of a technical and professional nature, throughout Northern Ireland.
