HC Deb 24 May 1977 vol 932 c452W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Trade how many full-and part-time appointments, respectively, are made by him which are not subject to regulation by the Civil Service Commission; what is the total sum paid annually as salary and expenses for such appointments; and if he will take steps to reduce the number of such posts.

Mr. Clinton Davis

In the various public bodies for which my right hon. Friend is responsible, he has made 17 full-time and 274 part-time appointments of which 17 and 37 respectively are salaried. Annual salaries total £341,278 but comprehensive information on expenses is not readily available. The number of appointments is kept under review to ensure that it is not excessive.
