§ Mr. MoyleSince thalassaemia major will usually manifest itself before a child is of school age and thalassaemia minor may become apparent at any time during or after the later school years, screening within the school medical service would appear to be of limited value. My officials are meeting shortly with representatives of the Thalassaemia Society to discuss the problems facing those who are affected by or may be carriers of thalassaemia.
