§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what advice he has received from the Joint Consultative Organisation for Research and Development into Agriculture and Food concerning the need for research into foods which provide optimum nutrients for foetal brain growth; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. StrangMy right hon. Friend has received no such advice. Research into factors which affect foetal brain growth is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services. If he were to advise that the nutritional value of certain foods which mothers may eat should be investigated we would consider how this could best be undertaken.
