§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will introduce legislation to enable interest-free loans to be advanced to disabled people for the purpose of buying a suitable vehicle;
(2) if he will introduce legislation to enable loans to be given for the purchase of a vehicle for disabled people against the security of their estates where a property is owned.

§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if any application has been made to the European Social Fund for the purpose of obtaining a grant to assist disabled people to obtain a suitable vehicle.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisThe purposes of the European Social Fund relate to the improvement of employment opportunities. Applications were made, though without success, in respect of the invalid vehicle scheme but have not been made in respect of the mobility allowance scheme, which provides the same benefit whether or not the disabled person is in employment.
