§ Dr. SummerskillAccording to the most recent figures, from the censuses conducted in 1971, about 755,600 people born in the Irish Republic were then residing in the United Kingdom. Most were citizens of the Republic; some will also have been citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies by descent or registration.
