HC Deb 16 May 1977 vol 932 cc52-3W
Mr. Kimball

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will set an early date for comments to be made to him on the report of the working party on management arrangements for hospital laundry services; and if he will publish details about whatever progress has been made on the examination of the pay implications.

Mr. Deakins

Guidance on management arrangements for the laundry and linen service in the NHS, which was based on the advice of a joint DHSS—NHS Working Party and referred to two new posts of linen service manager and principal linen service manager, was sent to health authorities in December 1976. The determination of pay and conditions of service for these officers is a matter for the Whitley Council for Administrative and Clerical Staffs. While I cannot make any commitment on the Council's behalf, I am told that agreement may be reached very shortly.
