HC Deb 12 May 1977 vol 931 c606W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether Hong Kong will be separately represented at the next round of talks within GATT on the Multi-Fibre Arrangement, or whether the Hong Kong delegation will sit as part of the United Kingdom delegation.

Mr. Meacher

, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 9th May], gave the following information:

The United Kingdom has acceded to GATT on behalf of Hong Kong and is responsible for Hong Kong's GATT rights and obligations. According to the usual practice, a member of the United Kingdom delegation in Geneva will speak for Hong Kong at these talks.
