HL Deb 11 May 1977 vol 383 c360WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Which Departments can be brought within the purview of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration by Order in Council; and whether this will now be done.

Lord PEART

All Departments can be made subject to investigation by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration by Order in Council under Section 4(2) of the Parliamentary Commissioner Act 1967. The only Departments not included in Schedule 2 to the 1967 Act, and not subsequently added by Orders in Council are those which have no administrative dealings with private individuals. As such their activities do not fall within the scope of the Parliamentary Commissioner Act.
