§ Mr. Dodsworthasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give the latest available figures for unemployment in Hertfordshire in the following categories: (a) totals for male and female and (b) totals for male and female school leavers, together with details of any job creation schemes and grants relating to the situation in Hertfordshire.
§ Mr. GoldingAt 14th April, 9,689 males and 3,013 females were registered as unemployed in Hertfordshire. These figures include 134 male and 152 female school leavers. The Government's special employment measures have helped 1,763 people in the area at an estimated cost of almost £1.4 million. Qualifying firms in Hertfordshire also stand to benefit from all of the schemes under Section 8 of the Industry Act 1972 to encourage investment in specific industries, as well as the new selective investment scheme.
