HC Deb 09 May 1977 vol 931 c326W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the approximate income accruing to his Department as a result of reduction in pension paid to retirement pensioners after eight weeks' stay in normal hospitals.

Mr. Orme

Information is not available as to the numbers of people in different categories of hospital who are actually receiving retirement pension. The reductions in retirement pension for retirement pensioners in all hospitals is estimated to amount to about £46 million in a full year at present benefit rates.
