HC Deb 09 May 1977 vol 931 c378W
Mr. Bradford

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will enable all part-time security personnel in the Ulster Defence Regiment and the Territorial Army to obtain weapons for personal protection whilst in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Duffy

Any member of the UDR may apply for a personal protection weapon and will be issued with one if it is assessed that he is under particular threat at home or at work. Members of the TAVR do not play any part in security operations in Northern Ireland.
