HC Deb 09 May 1977 vol 931 c368W
Mr. Jay

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received from Wandsworth Borough Council about the development by the General Post Office of the site in Nine Elms Lane. S.W.8, designed as a postal sorting office.

Mr. Marks

None.

Mr. Jay

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether arrangements are now complete for the redevelopment by Her Majesty's Stationery Office of the site at Nine Elms previously owned by the North Thames Gas Board; and when development work is likely to start.

Mr. Marks

The Property Services Agency offer for the Nine Elms land was accepted on 4th May. Work on planning the development of this difficult site is in hand. The requirement is being treated as one of urgency with the aim of starting work on the ground in 1979.
