§ 25. Mr. Arnoldasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what further plans he has for meeting representatives of the Police Federation.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesI have no present plans to meet representatives of the Police Federation. At a meeting on 25th April under the chairmanship of Sir John Nightingale, outside the Police Council, proposals for a settlement within the framework of phase 2 of the pay policy, endorsed by the Official Side of the Police Council, were put to the representatives of the Police Federation. I understand that these are now being considered by the Joint Central Committee of the Federation; I hope that they will 225W decide to accept them, because they represent the limit to which we can go within the framework of phase 2.
