§ Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what further consideration he has given since the debates on the renewal of the Prevention of Terrorism Act to the case for giving statutory force to the Judges' Rules.
§ Mr. Merlyn Rees:I am keeping the procedures for interviewing persons in police custody under review, and I am prepared to consider suggestions for changes and improvements. But these are difficult and complex issues which require careful thought, not only in the context of the Prevention of Terrorism Act but in other contexts as well, if we are to reach a solution acceptable to all the interests concerned.
