§ Mr. MeacherIn the first quarter of this year 1,200 pairs were exported at a value of£7,500 f.o.b. and 465,000 pairs were imported valued at£325,000 c.i.f. The Government will continue to urge Japan to remove restrictions on the import of leather footwear. During his recent visit to Tokyo my center hon. Friend strongly urged the Japanese to accept imports of our manufactured goods as freely as their own exports of manufactured goods are accepted abroad and as our exports are accepted in other advanced industrialised countries.
